The Founding Documents

The Baby Cyrus Foundation was established not merely to accomplish a mission today, but to preserve that mission for generations to come. Its Founding Documents were therefore written with an unusual degree of care and permanence. Together, these documents form the Constitution of the Baby Cyrus Foundation: the governing framework that defines why the Foundation exists, the principles it must uphold, the purposes it may pursue, the manner in which it must be governed, and the safeguards designed to prevent its mission from being diluted, redirected, or compromised over time. Rather than functioning simply as organizational bylaws, the Constitution was deliberately constructed as a covenant between the Foundation’s founding purpose and those who will someday be entrusted with carrying that purpose forward.

At its heart, the Constitution is intended to answer a difficult question faced by every enduring institution: How do you ensure that the organization of tomorrow remains faithful to the reason it was created today? Leadership changes, generations pass, circumstances evolve, and institutions inevitably encounter financial, political, cultural, and organizational pressures. The Constitution establishes principles and structural protections intended to ensure that, through all of those changes, the Baby Cyrus Foundation remains independent, financially responsible, ethically governed, and unwavering in its commitment to protect children, preserve families, defend parental rights and due process, expose injustice, and hold powerful institutions accountable. It also establishes the stewardship of the Foundation’s resources, the responsibilities and limitations of its leadership, its standards of integrity and transparency, and the mechanisms through which its charitable work can continue perpetually without sacrificing the convictions upon which it was founded.

We believe those who support the Baby Cyrus Foundation should be able to know not only what the Foundation says it believes, but how those beliefs have been incorporated into the institution itself. These Founding Documents are therefore both a framework for governance and a public commitment: that the story which gave birth to this Foundation will not someday be forgotten as the organization grows, and that the resources entrusted to it will remain dedicated to the purposes for which they were given. They are, in the fullest sense, the Foundation’s promise to the future.
